Shell Omala S4 GX

Shell Omala S1 W 460

Refined, highly viscous mineral oil, compounded with a small amount of fatty oils. It is mainly used for lubrication of steam engine cylinders operating at high temperatures and pressures, when low carbonization and “steaming” are important factors.

Shell Omala

High quality industrial gear and bearing oils

Shell Omala is a high-quality, lead-free, high-pressure, anti-seize oil designed to lubricate heavy duty industrial gears. High bearing capacity and antifriction characteristics allow the successful use of these oils in gears and other applications.

Area of usage

Shell Omala oils, developed on the basis of highly refined base oils with a high viscosity index and compositions of special sulfur-phosphorus additives to impart extreme pressure properties, can be successfully used in the following areas:

  • Steel Gear Transmissions
  • Industrial gears requiring anti-seize oils
  • Bearings
  • Circulation and spray lubrication systems

Shell Omala oils cannot be used in automotive hypoid gears. They recommend the use of Shell Spirax family oils.

It is a balanced composition based on mineral oil and carefully selected additives, including fillers (5% MoS2 and others), which provide high bearing capacity, low friction coefficient, high adhesion to metal, water resistance and corrosion resistance. Recommended for use in centralized lubrication systems.
