For Shell, the world’s leading supplier of lubricants, Kazakhstan is strategically interested not only in the exploration and production of hydrocarbons, but also in the production and marketing of lubricants.
The concern is actively considering opportunities for further expansion of activities in the Kazakhstan market. In 2009, Shell, the first of the international oil and gas companies operating in Russia, began construction of a complex for the production of lubricants in the city of Torzhok, Tver Region, which was completed in the fall of 2012.
A plant in Torzhok with a capacity of 200 million liters per year is one of the largest in Shell. It produces a wide range of high-quality lubricants, including motor oils, marine engine oils, industrial lubricants, hydraulic and gear oils (under the brands Shell Helix, Shell Rimula, Shell Spirax, Shell Tellus, Shell Omala).
The plant is equipped with high-tech, modern equipment of foreign manufacture, used in other Shell factories. Concern customers can take advantage of convenient and quick access to products manufactured using the latest technology.
High quality products are ensured through the introduction of advanced technologies and a strict quality control system. In particular, the Shell laboratory, located on the territory of the complex, is certified in accordance with Russian legislation and international standards. The company employs qualified Russian specialists – from workers to senior managers.
Particular attention is paid to labor protection, industrial safety and environmental protection, compliance with international and Russian environmental and sanitary standards. Shell uses special environmental technologies, and also provides compulsory training in this area for all employees of the enterprise.
So, for two consecutive years – in 2014 and 2015, the Shell plant in Torzhok was recognized as the safest enterprise in the Upper Volga region and became the best in the field of labor protection. In addition, in 2015 the Shell complex participated in the All-Russian contest for the best organization of work in the field of labor conditions and labor safety “Success and Safety – 2015”, where it took 2nd place in the subject of the Russian Federation (Moscow) and 1st place in municipality (Northern District of Moscow).
The new world-class enterprise, built in close proximity to Russian consumers, allows Shell to more effectively meet the needs of the local market for high-quality lubricants. In the future, it is possible to expand supplies to the markets of neighboring countries.
